Mary Beth was voted Best Actress by her fourth grade classmates in Orange County, California. From there the fair-haired, self-described “beach girl” set her sights on a performing career. At the age of 14, she got a job in a fast-food restaurant and had her older sister drive her to acting classes. Following graduation from Huntington Beach High School, Mary Beth spent five months in Europe before joining the prestigious South Coast Repertory Conservatory.

She is best known for her performance as Kayla Brady Johnson on NBC’s daytime drama Days of Our Lives. She also portrayed Katherine Bell on General Hospital for five years and had a recurring role as Sierra Esteban Reyes Montgomery Drake on As the World Turns from 2004-2010.

She is currently starring as socialite Sara Garrett in the web soap The Bay.

As an avid gardener and decorator, Mary Beth was a featured blogger for Hybrid Mom.com for several years where she gave her ideas on gardening, cooking and home decor.  You can read her blog entries under the articles on this website.

As the founder of Mary Beth’s Apple Pie Company, she turned a family recipe into a growing business. Her pies are now featured in the Williams-Sonoma catalogue during the Thanksgiving-Christmas holidays.  Married in 1985 to Dr. Michael Schwartz, she resides in Southern California with her husband and their three children, Danny, Katie and Matthew.
