Hybrid Mom Blog -“My New Adventure”

February 17, 2011 / Posted by in News

February 17th, 2011 by Mary Beth Evans On my never ending road to…I’m not sure what, I took a canning class last weekend. When I told my husband I was going to spend my Saturday morning doing this, I have to say he did a double take. Unusual maybe, but I am always looking for my “next big adventure”.  I am also dying to learn how to make fabulous ice cream. That will be upcoming I am sure but last

New Hybrid Mom Blog, “Highs and Lows”

February 5, 2011 / Posted by in News

The last month has brought many highs and several lows. Some that are hard to wrap my head around. On the high, my kids were all home for about a month and now that they are adults or close to, we can really enjoy the “people” they have become. We had numerous meals out, laughing and sharing stories…such a delight. Our two older children were just happy to hang out with us, which was very sweet. My oldest son, at

New Hybrid Mom Blog, “My Holiday Recap”

January 7, 2011 / Posted by in News

“I can’t believe another year has gone by. It seems like yesterday I was sharing last year’s holiday adventures with all of you. Crazy! All of my kids are older and my two oldest live away from home so the holidays are a great time for us to be together. It is so fun for me to decorate the house, have a fire going and something great smelling baking in the oven for their return. It felt so warm and

Mary Beth’s New Blog on Hybrid Mom, “Happy Holidays”

December 24, 2010 / Posted by in News

“It is so funny how things are now. My kids are coming home from far away places to gather for the holidays…Geez it seems to happen so fast that we as parents are sitting on “the other side.”  Just this week we heard our youngest son got into college and then… that’s that for pete sake….empty nest is around the corner. What happened to my babies? Of course we all know what blood, sweat and tears goes into raising our children, but

New Hybrid Mom Blog, “Just the Girls”

November 18, 2010 / Posted by in News

“This past weekend 9 women gathered in Colorado from around the country to celebrate my best friend Carrie’s “landmark” birthday. One from New York, one from Boston, one from Louisville, one from Colorado and five from southern California. Some of us had met before, some had not. What an amazing time we all had. It’s a true testament to her that she has so many friends that are all so kind and generous in spirit. We hiked some amazingly beautiful

New Hybrid Mom Blog, “Making a Connection”

October 28, 2010 / Posted by in News

“We’ve come to an interesting place in society that I can’t help but take notice of. With the advancement of technology has come the regression of human to human contact. Why call when you can text right? Wrong. There is a whole generation of kids who can barely look up from their cell phones long enough to look someone in the eye and say hello, let alone have meaningful human to human interaction. It’s even seeping into the older generations…everyone

“Step Outside the Box,” Mary Beth’s Hybrid Mom Blog

October 21, 2010 / Posted by in News

“It’s not often in all of our busy lives that we really step outside of our “boxes” and experience new things. Last month my husband and I got the opportunity to do just that when some friends of ours generously took us on a trip to Bora Bora. They have a boat moored there and they go monthly (nice I know). It was beyond fabulous and I got to experience so many new and exciting things. There was a chef

“What Modivates You?” Mary Beth’s Latest Hybrid Mom Blog

October 4, 2010 / Posted by in News

“I think all of us from time to time get paralyzed when it comes to accomplishing things in our lives.  I’ll get this weird wrecking ball on my lap feeling, almost a little scared.  I procrastinate FOREVER!  It’s amazing how much I can putter around my house doing everything but what I need to.  What begins as a little procrastination can turn into a vicious cycle of not getting anything done…..” http://www.hybridmom.com/blog/?p=4229

Mary Beth’s Latest Blog on Hybrid Mom, “The Fruits (And Vegetables) of My Labor

September 9, 2010 / Posted by in News

“Back in April I blogged about starting my new garden. Now that the long hot summer days have done their magic I wanted to share the results with you. I will admit that I probably over planted, but it was pretty fun. The little orange cherry and yellow pear tomato plants are completely taking over and are incredibly delicious. If you have never eaten a homegrown tomato, you have no idea what you are missing. They are so flavorful…I eat

New Hybrid Mom Blog, “Big Transitions”

September 2, 2010 / Posted by in News

“As the end of the summer has come, so have some big transitions.  Friends of my youngest son (17) are headed off to college.  His very best friend his entire life is also named Matthew and is the son of one of my closest friends.  He is a year older and when I found out I was having a boy, I told my friend that I wanted to name my son Matthew too.  I said, “It’s not like they will

“My Baby Update,” New Hybrid Mom Blog

August 30, 2010 / Posted by in News

As I previously blogged about, my oldest son Danny went to Korea to teach English (the subject) for a year.  He knew no one and went alone.  As usual he had to completely drive me insane this summer before he left.  Maybe we will chock it up to needing to “separate” from his parents, but the time had come to be on his own.  He was anxious and ready to get the ball rolling, albeit nervous!….. http://www.hybridmom.com/blog/

“Do It Youself Backyard Retreat,” Mary Beth Evans’ latest Hybrid Mom blog

May 13, 2010 / Posted by in News

“I once moved to a house where in the backyard were a pool and a sort of retro fire pit, very 70’s.  The yard was beautiful but I thought the pit would have to go.  There was no rush since it would entail a jackhammer and some strong guys to get rid of it.  I got busy with the other aspects of the house and never got around to doing anything about it……..”  http://www.hybridmom.com/blog/

New Hybrid Mom blog, “A Fun Return to the “Past” and a Great Makeup Tip.”

May 6, 2010 / Posted by in News

As I mentioned in my last blog I was returning to As The World Turns in New York for a few days.  The travel was tough. Out of my house on the west coast to catch a 7 am flight and both workdays I was to be picked up at Grand Central Station at 6:25 am.  I maneuvered all that, mostly on adrenaline.  Man was I tired, but it was worth it.  The ride out to Brooklyn was a pleasure.

Dr. Michael Schwartz has a new blog, “The Lunchtime Lift……” on Hybrid Mom

April 17, 2010 / Posted by in News

Mary Beth’s hubby, Dr. Michael Schwartz has a new blog up on Hybrid Mom, “The Lunchtime Lift: Drive-thru Takeout or Quality Meal?”  Interesting reading!  Many patients ask me about ‘lunchtime’ lifts, minilifts and microlifts, while many other patients appear in my office after having already had these.  There seems to be a marketing blitz for mini-procedures in facelifting, because unfortunately, most people would rather hear that they just have a small problem and that dramatic results will ensue from a
